Once you access the PMS menu of our Dashboard and select Protel as your hotel's reservation management system, the acronym API (Application Programming Interfaces) appears frequently. This is a set of definitions and protocols used to develop and integrate application software, allowing communication between two applications through a set of rules.
Translated to the hotel context, the API is the program that allows communication between Civitfun and the Protel PMS in either of its two versions (On Premise or Cloud, called Protel Air) to be fluid. In other words, they must "speak the same language" for the integration to be successful. Remember that the nuance that distinguishes the two versions is that On Premise requires the servers that support the integration to be on a local server, physically on your property. The second, on the other hand,is not physically hosted at your property'. This means that each hotel integrated with this version of the Protel PMS has a unique web address to which Civitfun can direct requests when starting the integration.
For the purposes of the configuration fields in our Dashboard, the only difference is that in the On Premise version the API URL is requested; while in the Cloud version (Protel Air), it is not.
