What is Door Opening?
The Door Opening Module empowers hoteliers to securely connect with their Door Opening Platform through Civitfun, enabling guests to generate their digital key or PIN code for room access online.
What is the Set Up for the Door Opening Module?
The set up process for the Door Opening Module consists of three steps:
- Establish connection with your Door Opening Platform.
- Conduct door mapping, ensuring alignment between the Property Management System (PMS) and the Door Opening Platform.
- Define your communication strategy with guests for the seamless creation of their electronic keys.
Door Opening Module Specifications
- Remember to adjust your check-in form to gather the necessary information for generating an electronic key. For example, if you are working with Salto Space, ensure that the mobile number is mandatory; if you are working with Tesa, ensure that the email address is mandatory.
- Keep in mind that the same phone number or email address cannot have two keys simultaneously (not even for different rooms within the same reservation).
- Also, remember that children cannot generate a key.
What will be the Guest Workflow?
Once the door opening module set up is complete, guests can initiate the creation of their electronic keys online.
Depending on the chosen communication strategy, the flow may vary. If the "Search form link" option is selected, guests will need to search for their locator and arrival date. On the other hand, if the "Deeplink" option is chosen, guests will proceed directly to selecting their details.
- Search form: If "Search form link" is chosen, the guest will encounter the following screen and will need to search for their locator and arrival date.
- Guests of the room: Once the guest has entered their locator and arrival date in the search form, they will encounter the following screen, where they will need to select themselves.
- Room key: If "Deeplink" is chosen or once they have selected themselves, they will be directed to the following screen, where they must choose their room.

Download app: Finally, depending on the hotel's Door Opening Platform, guests will follow different instructions. For app-based door opening, guests will receive guidance on downloading the app and steps to open the door. For link-based opening, a window with a button to unlock the door will appear. For pin-based opening, guests will receive a pin code to enter. In all cases, with their key in hand, guests are ready to unlock the door!
